5 Tips to Finding Your Scottsdale Dream Home

Congratulations on your decision to buy a Scottsdale house. The search for your Scottsdale dream home can be an exciting one. But, many buyers struggle to find exactly what they are looking for and quickly become discouraged. This may cause you to feel down, but don’t give in just yet.

With this in mind, these tips will help you stay on the path to finding your Scottsdale dream home.

  1. Create a list of what the house needs to have

To find your Scottsdale dream home it’s important to understand what you are looking for. Make a list of everything that you would like to have in your house. Then, go back through the list and separate out the things that would just be nice to have in the house from the things that you absolutely want to make sure the house has.

Once you have these two lists, give them to your real estate agent and stick to them. Let your agent know that you don’t want to even look at houses that don’t cross off the items on your “must have” list. Explain that the items on the other list would be a bonus but aren’t necessary. Being up front is important.

  1. Choose what house style you are looking for

If you really want a bungalow house then you should only look at bungalows. This applies to any style house that you want. This is something else that you need to be upfront with your agent about.

However, if you don’t really care about the style of the house and just have a few that you prefer over others, pass that information along as well.

  1. Choose your Scottsdale neighborhood

Before you start looking at houses decide on what Scottsdale area you want your house to be in. If you have a neighborhood that you desire to be in first make sure that your budget can afford it. If you can’t, look at the surrounding Scottsdale neighborhoods that are growing in the right direction.

Once you have decided on the area you want to live in, don’t look outside of it.

  1. Keep track of the houses you look at

It can be difficult to remember what house was what after you look at several of them. Take your time when you walk through a house. Take pictures of the house on the exterior and the rooms inside. Make notes about what you like and what you didn’t like. If you do this with each house it will help you make a decision when you are back at home thinking about your options.

  1. Don’t keep looking

When you have found a Scottsdale house that you decide to put an offer on stop looking at the other houses, especially once your offer is accepted. It’s easy to keep browsing the listings but it doesn’t matter what comes across when you’re already in the process of purchasing one.

Your Scottsdale dream home is out there, and it can be yours. You may need to be patient and you definitely need to know what you’re looking for. But the pay-off is a Scottsdale home that meets your needs.
